For thirty five years, Don Area Co-operative Homes Inc. (DACHI) has provided non-profit housing to its member residents, in the Cabbagetown neighbourhood of downtown Toronto. A member-controlled organization, DACHI is made up of forty-one houses scattered along four streets.
Eight of our houses were newly built in 1985; the rest are late-victorian buildings and are designated as heritage buildings by the City of Toronto.
Many of the co-op's homes are divided into smaller self-contained flats, providing seventy-five housing units in total, ranging in size from bachelor flats to five bedroom houses.
We are a mixed-income community. Our members come from a rich diversity of backgrounds and interests, not the least of which is gardening. To visit our photo gallery, click on Location & Housing Units.
